January - Month 8

How can my little guy be 8 months already?? We are only 4 months away from his 1 year!! I can hardly believe it!!!
We got back from the holidays and had a relaxing New Year's Eve at home. We had Cheesecake Factory Take-Out and spent the night with Dick Clark & Ryan Seacrest! WJC5 even got a few sips of water out of a champagne glass!! It was uneventful but still a nice start to 2010.

I feel like each day that passes WJC5 has new developments. He is changing and growing SO quickly. He is almost too heavy for his infant car seat!! He got his second tooth about 2 weeks ago and just yesterday (1/23) WJC5 got his first top tooth!!
He is completely sitting up on his own now and if he gets near something he can pull on, he works on trying to stand up. He goes from sitting, to crawling, to climbing up mommy to stand. He is VERY active and wants to move, move, move!! The first video is of when he just started doing the crawl. He also has a great passion for books. He just LOVES them!

He's observing everything and James and I are noticing moments where he truly is observing and processing what's going on around him. One fun thing he does now is if you take his pacifier away, he can take it back and put the correct end right in his mouth. He also is loving Peek-a-Boo and it always makes him smile.

He's also very observant and reactive to the world around him. Below is a video of him watching his first movie - "The Muppets." He was thrilled!! :)
Some other developments this month... he will open and close his hand while looking at it, he is army crawling all over the family room and he gets up on his knees and rocks a lot. He sits up at the end of his bath (with me holding him to steady his wobbles) and splashes around laughing. He also is now able to pick up a round ball and he immediately tries to eat it. Shea and WJC5 are becoming quick friends too!
We've been attending many churches this month trying to find a church "home." WJC5 has done great and behaved excellent during the services. However, today we had a funny moment. During the churches prayer requests when people raise their hand and call out prayer needs, there was a quiet moment toward the end where the pastor was waiting to make sure there were no other requests. Well, of course, WJC5 decided it was too quiet. At that moment, he starts babbling and talking quite loud. The whole congregation laughed and James and I were a little embarrassed. The pastor said, "Well, prayer comes in all forms and we appreciate them all." It made everyone laugh even more and made James and I feel a bit better. After the service, we promptly went to go check out their church daycare service!! I think it might be time for WJC5 to attend!!

The bad news this month was out of the blue one night WJC5 started crying and screaming. He has been sleeping very well and mostly through the night so this was strange behavior. He had no fever but after night two, I had a motherly instinct that something was wrong. I called the doctor and we brought him in. Sure enough, the little guy had his first ear infection. I felt so bad for him. The doc put him on an antibiotic and in a few days he was back to his old self.

We have his 9 month appointment next month and we cannot wait to go and see how much he weighs. Then it will be time to introduce some meats to him!! I cannot wait! I have already tried to give him apples, a little piece of grape (the inside of it) and a cracker. I don't think he knows quite to make of the texture. He is making some funny faces!

Life is certainly getting fun!!
