For the week of Christmas we went to Maine and had Christmas with the Close side of the family. It was a full house and lots of fun. We had Jim, Pat, Matt, Marlene, Madeline, Maia, Grandfather, Mary Ellen, Barb, Tom, and the three of us! The house was bustling with activities and non-stop entertainment with the kids!
WJC5 got to meet his namesake which was incredibly special, especially for James and I. Great grandfather and WJC5 just loved each other! Below is a picture of WJC2, WJC3, WJC4, and WJC5. A moment they will all treasure forever.
The gang waited to decorate the tree for our arrival, so that was top priority on our first day. WJC5 enjoyed his first tree decorating. I think he would have rather just chewed on the ornaments instead of hanging them, but we tried!
We went to Christmas Eve service at a local church there. It was WJC5's first church experience and he did very well! Here is a family picture before we left.
Christmas morning was wonderful. We had gifts galore and WJC5, being the youngest, was even able to open the very first gift of Christmas!
As the week went on, WJC5 was highly entertained by his two darling cousins. He just loved them to pieces and would get so excited when they were near. He truly missed them when they left!
The men kept themselves busy downstairs in the basement... or the Man Cave, as I like to call it. They would be down there for hours and then one of them would appear upstairs to show off some wood working magic. They were certainly enjoying themselves. At one point I had to go down to tell James something... um, YIKES!! It was like a different world down there. Not much estrogen in those parts!! Warren wasn't quite old enough to join them yet, but he kept himself happy and busy. Got to love this age... all it takes is an empty cardboard box!!
WJC5 also had a few milestones while in Maine. First, he began lunging forward when he got up on all fours. It was a slow and awkward process, but he was able to "hop" towards something he wanted. It was very cute!! Secondly, his first tooth appeared the day after Christmas. He ran a small fever and had diarrhea. I was worried but later the next day... out popped a tooth. It was his bottom right and it was a sharp little sucker!! I have been trying to get a picture, but it is almost impossible!! I'm not giving up though.
The gang also went on a winter walk... I call it a hike, but nonetheless we all went and had a nice time being outdoors getting from fresh air. WJC5 was all bundled up and loved "riding" on daddy. He was kicking his legs in excitement the whole time. Towards the end though, he got a little tired and decided to fall asleep. I should takes notes from him. That's the way to hike! Be carried in a little backpack for 90% of the hike and then sleep for the last part! Sounds perfect to me! LOL!!
We also had a fun time guessing what WJC5 will be when he grows up. Everyone made a prediction and Jim wrote it down. He is going to lock it away and when WJC5 turns 30 we are going to take it out and see who picked correctly. What would your guess be??
See you next year!!
