Week 16 and 17...

It amazes me how many changes and new developmental skills can take place in just a short amount of time. WJC5 has been very busy lately exploring his world and experimenting within it. In the last two weeks he has reached out, held, and turned pages in a book, he has been rolling over non-stop from his back to his belly, and he even has been holding on to his pacifier as he takes it out of his mouth. He even likes to practice the rolling over while I'm changing his diaper!! What messy fun that can be!!
He can sit up in his Bumbo chair which he enjoys and I truly think he has been trying to give me kisses. When I give him lots of kisses on his check, he smooshes his face into mine and moves his open mouth towards mine. It is just the cutest thing!
Since I have been back to work though, WJC5's sleep habits have changed. I'm not sure if it's teething, a growth spurt, or him having some separation issues, but he's been waking up in the middle of the night very fussy. After trying everything to settle him down, I end up feeding him. Then he settles for about an hour and then fusses and is wriggly mess until about 6 am!! James and I have really been having some sleep issues.

But, Friday night, right after I laid him down, he rolled over on his belly. This made me nervous but every time I had rolled him back over all the nights before he got upset. So, I just tried to relax, tell myself he would be ok, and let him sleep on his belly. Well, it was the best night sleep we have all had in the last month!! I guess WJC5 is going to take after mommy and enjoy sleeping on his tummy. He has found his preferred sleep position, for sure. I just hope for his age it is safe and he will be ok.
This Sunday we went to Lyman Orchards with our friends Nick,Deana, Sharon, and her kids. We had a great time picking apples and trecking through the corn maze. This is a place we will have to go back to soon and get some pumpkins!! James and I just finished eating our delicious apple pie we bought!! YUMMY!!! You've got to love the fall season in New England! Nothing beats it!
Well back to work tomorrow. I am starting to get into more of a groove now that we have been back in session for two weeks. It is hard learning how to balance work, mommy, and wife. I am still breast feeding exclusively and it has been a challenge, but I am really glad I am still doing it. It makes me feel like I am doing something really good for him since I can't be with him during the day. We will see how long it lasts!! ;)
