Week 13...

Sadly, I have no pictures this week. I was a bad mommy and apparently didn't break out my camera once. :( I will have some making up to do next week!! I do have some fun milestones that WJC5 did this past week to document though, so at least it is not a waste of a week!! LOL!

Since he came home from the hospital WJC5 has been swaddled at night when he goes to sleep. Around 8 weeks, he started to wriggle his arms and hands up out of the swaddle no matter how tight we got that blanket around him. We nicknamed him Little Houdini. Since he certainly wasn't a fan of his arms swaddled, we started to just swaddle the bottom half of him. This worked great. It kept him from waking himself up at night because of his legs failing around. Well, this week, we decided it was time to remove the swaddle altogether. We did this for two reasons... one, we didn't want him to get so used to the swaddle that he needed it to sleep and two, we wanted him to be able to begin to roll over if needed and find his own sleep position. So, off the swaddle came. The first night he moved around all over and looked like a caged bird let free. He didn't fall right to sleep and took him about two hours to settle down. The second night it only took him one hour and now he is back to his routine where he soothes himself and falls right to sleep - swaddle free!!! Whew!! That is a relief!!

Because of his wonderful 9 hours of sleeping through the night, I am finding him awake a lot longer during the days... and much happier. I love this because I get more time to play and interact with him. Nothing makes me happier!!

This week he has noticed his hands and is beginning to figure out what they can do. Sometimes I see him staring at them!! It is just so cute. He also has started to reach and grab for things... including my necklace. Man, does this kid have a grip!! He also has realized that he can hold a rattle. He shakes it a little and brings it up to his face and then back down. He also is starting to explore the world through his mouth. He is already starting to take anything I put in this hands and take it directly to his lips!!

The cutest thing he has started doing this week though is when I change his diaper. Almost every time now, he holds his legs up in the air so his tush is open and available for me to clean him up. As I am getting the new diaper ready, he just holds his legs up. Then I put the new diaper on and down his legs go. I find it so funny!!! I hope he stays this cooperative with the diaper changing but I have a feeling my days are numbered!!!

Until next week and I promise LOTS of pictures...
