This week WJC5 got to know his new home and surroundings and we got to know him. The first few nights were difficult and I don't think any of us got any sleep. It's been a hard adjustment for all of us.
Nana (my mom) is staying with us to help out and it is a good thing. She is helping James and I both learn how to be parents and take care of WJC5. She is being very patient and we have lots of questions. She is also helping out around the house and doing all the things I cannot do. Having had a C-Section, I can only go up and down the steps one time a day and can't lift anything heavier than the baby. So she is doing the cleaning, grocery shopping, and cooking. Thank goodness for her or James and I would not be clean or be eating!! Nana and Papa have been keeping the new mom-to-be company during the day too while James is at work. Having them around to give an extra hand has been a life-saver!!
We did have our first scare this week... one night we felt like WJC5 was wheezing and having trouble breathing. He was also making this squeaking noise every time he breathed in. We were up all night listening to him and worrying so we called the doctor first thing in the morning. We took him in and found out he has an underdeveloped trachea. It is not calcified yet and causes him to squeak when he breathes in. This does not hurt him or cause him any breathing trouble - even though it sounds like it. As he grows and develops, this problem should fix itself and he will be just fine. So for now... he is our little noisy squeaker.
This weekend we had our first visitors to meet WJC5. The Close Gang... Grandfather Jim, Grandmother Pat, Uncle Matt, Aunt Marlene, Cousin Madeline, and Cousin Maia all came to meet the new member of the family. We had a great time with them and enjoyed introducing him to everyone.
