Maybe it's that last part... "barely supported by me." Where did the last 6 months go? How are we already half way to 1 year old? Or maybe it is because he is starting to look so big? I am not sure what it is, but I am having a "major mommy moment" for sure. What will I do when he says, "No thanks mom, I've got it." Or when he doesn't want to kiss me goodbye because his friends are there. Or when he drives off in a car? When he gets a girlfriend? Goes to college? Moves out of the house? GETS MARRIED and has another woman take care of him? Oh goodness. Slow down time. Where did my newborn baby go? I feel like today is a milestone for me. WJC5 is no longer an infant... he is now a baby!
So, WJC5 now weighs 18 lbs and 3 oz. He is 27 1/2 inches long. The doctor said he was a "substantial" baby. I like the sound of that! He was 50th % in weight and 80th % in height. James and I were very pleased. Other than that, he got a great report. All looks good and on track. GO WJC5!!!
Some developments in the last week... he is teething big time and I am just waiting for something to pop out. Everyday I am in that little mouth of his feeling around. He is also becoming quite vocal and I am starting to hear more distinct sounds. He just clear as day, said "Dada" this past weekend. We were so excited so now he repeats it frequently. He is also is making a "g" and "m" sound. We are working on Dada and Moma each day and he really studies our face and lips. I think we may get Mama soon. At least, I'm hoping!! :) His other funny thing is now he wants to be on his belly when I am changing him. We get into quite a tangled web as I'm getting him dressed. Apparently another development we learned is that he has some interest in mommy's bottle. Learning young...
He started eating a real apple out of a mesh pacifier thing. He loves chopping on the apple bits and getting some sweet juice! He is also almost about to hold his bottle on his own. He works on this skill each time we eat. He is getting really close.
We also had my dearest friend Ana here this past weekend with her new boyfriend Omar. We had a great time with lots of laughs. WJC5 even got to have his first visit to some wineries. It was a short but special weekend.
Thanksgiving update is next!! Stay tunned for WJC5's first Turkey day.
All my love,
PS - This is not WJC5 related but he is a picture of James' tile job. He worked SO hard ripping the old tile up and laying this beautiful new tile. I am so proud of him and had to show off his handy work!
Old Tile
New Tile - even though it's still a little dusty
